Our moral obligation to recycle

We all have a moral obligation to recycle materials in a safe and environmental friendly manner, with the aim of reducing the amount we landfill. We are continually encouraged in our every day life to recycle more and more material’s, land filling is becoming more of problem with a shortage of landfill sites as well as increased costs of land filling.

From a public point of view what do we do with the polystyrene package we receive; if we take it to the municipal waste management centre’s they just landfill it as they don’t segregate expanded polystyrene or have a environmentally friendly method of disposal.

We use or receive goods made of polystyrene in nearly everything we buy for example sheet is used as floor/wall insulation in our houses, white goods purchased like televisions, fridges, washing machines, computers, kids toys are all protected with expanded polystyrene packaging.
